Kansas City Public Schools recently celebrated a major milestone at the King Empowerment Center with the topping out ceremony, marking the placement of the building’s highest steel beam. This milestone represents a significant step forward in construction and highlights the progress toward creating a space that will serve students, families, and the community.
The King Empowerment Center is one of three buildings that make up the King Empowerment Campus. When complete, the building will serve as a Family Empowerment Center, providing modern, inspiring spaces that support learning and family resources. The broader campus will also include a new elementary school and a new early childhood center. The campus represents KCPS’ first new construction in more than 30 years and will be completed in 2027.
NAVIGATE continues to serve as Owner’s Representative for the project, overseeing all aspects of delivery to ensure construction aligns with the district’s goals, budget, and schedule. Through careful planning, coordination, and execution, NAVIGATE helps create safe, engaging environments where students and families can thrive.
The topping out ceremony highlights the collaboration, thoughtful planning, and community engagement that make projects like the King Empowerment Center possible. NAVIGATE is proud to support KCPS in bringing this vision to life and contributing to the district’s ongoing transformation.
