Over the weekend, the Old Courthouse in Downtown St. Louis officially reopened to the public following a two-year, $27.5 million renovation. NAVIGATE served as the Construction Manager on this important project, working alongside the National Park Service and Gateway Arch Park Foundation to help revitalize one of the city’s most historic landmarks.

Built between 1839 and 1862, the Old Courthouse was the site of several landmark civil rights cases, including the Dred and Harriet Scott freedom suits and Virginia Minor’s fight for the right to vote.

The renovation introduced major accessibility upgrades—including the addition of an interior elevator—alongside essential structural improvements like a new HVAC system, fire suppression upgrades, and restored interior finishes. Inside, the exhibit galleries were fully reimagined to better reflect the significance of the events that took place within its walls.

NAVIGATE is honored to have supported the preservation and renewal of a building so deeply rooted in our nation’s history—and proud to have played a role in preparing it for generations to come.
